– being able to align what publishers and advertisers want to show with what users want to see.
Viral Marketing
– using pre-existing social networks to achieve marketing objectives.
(viral – 1. a message intended to be spread 2. a virus)
– three components – the message, the medium, the delivery.
1.The message – it must stick!
2.The medium – images, video, text
3.The delivery –email, instant message, telephone, etc.

Facebook is an ideal medium for viral marketing.
Businesses are moving from a one sided “build it and hope they will come” model to a partnership with their target model.

a business-oriented social networking site. Founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003
